Under the Swiss Code of Obligations (CO Art. 14/14a), contracts are valid without a prescribed form in most cases, so an electronic signature such as SES or AES is sufficient for many business agreements. SES and AES are not certified signature types. Only the qualified electronic signature (QES) is legally equivalent to a handwritten signature where the law explicitly requires written form; Evidona does not currently offer QES.
SES is a simple electronic signature (click plus OTP verification via email or SMS). AES uses the same OTP verification but is additionally bound to a registered, authenticated Evidona account, uniquely linking it to that account holder. Both levels detect subsequent changes to the document via SHA-256 hashes.
